Japanese Cat Day Kitten Occasional Diarrhea

Diarrhea is not uncommon for cats and there are many reasons why your cat might have it.

In fact they are the most common symptoms of upset stomach seen in cats. Occasional diarrhea is common in cats. If the diarrhea appears to be the large volume small bowel type your cat will likely benefit from at least some supplemental fluid and electrolyte administration and probably other anti diarrheal medications.

Premature weaning onto wet food may also cause diarrhea as the body may not be ready to absorb the new proteins and complex nutrients found in meat. Leave the food out for hour only. You can get kitten milk if its available in a nearby supermarket.

If your sweet kitty sometimes experiences a bout of soft stools it probably isnt a big deal. When your kitten turns 6 months old offer food to himher twice a day only. On the other hand in the event of repeated blood sightings followed by diarrhea or vomiting your cat may run into a serious medical problem which is in urgent need of veterinary support.

Other times it can last for days weeks or months or come back on a regular basis. Feed twice a day amount depends on food type and how active your cat is training your cat to eat twice a day. I doubt that your cat has these and the drontal your vet prescribed is effective against hookworms and roundworms and would have treated them.

With large bowel diarrhea your cat may be supremely uncomfortable and the continued straining will only make the irritation worse. If diarrhea lasts for longer than a day even if the kitten seems well please see your veterinarian to rule out an underlying medical cause. Kitten diarrhea is also a frequent issue because cat owners think cow milk is a valid replacement for cat milk which clearly isnt the case.

Diarrhea that lasts for 24 to 48 hours probably wont cause a problem unless you have an older cat or a kitten. Kittens who have diarrhea longer than 24 hours need to see a vet specially if accompanied by other symptoms. Fading kitten syndrome kittens especially very young kittens in the first two weeks of life are very vulnerable and up to 11 of kittens will die before they turn eight weeks old.
